Since i've run out of ideas for topics, I'm going to use my Creative writing Journals for awhile.

You get to create the rules, what five rules would you create for teachers and for parents?

5 rules for Teachers
-always be respectful of your students, no matter how different they are.

-Being respectful doesn't mean being a pushover.

-Get rid of troublemakers quickly, they bring down the class.

-Tests (essays in english) prove what children have learned and should be the only basis for grading.

-Be flexible and help your students learn in their way, not your decision as to how they "should" learn.

5 rules for parents

-Don't lie to your children. Santa isn't real and either is the toothfairy. lying to children makes them resent you later on in life.

-Don't impose arbitrary rulings, help your kids work through their problems together.

-you ARE NOT your child's friend. you are their teacher and mentor, so start acting like it.

-reason first, then force (if necessary)

-Always question your own rules, if it doesn't make sense, ditch it.

I JUST APPLIED TO ANIMATION MENTOR, I am by far too excited to even think right now.

I'm practically jumping off the walls. no more of the middle ground depression stuff going on, no more lounging and waiting to do something, i just did it. I just took the first step that actually will make a difference in my life, and it feels fantastic :D. by god, I love life right now, nothing could bring me down :D :D :D :D :D D: (oops, accidental sad face)

First off, I would like to explain the last post, while it is true, the reason why it came up is because I went and saw a nihilist movie in which the only Objectivist like character gets killed (This would be Watchmen, in case you were wondering). so i was scared out of my mind afterward, but we're ok now.

I'm scared

There, that's your reason. the reason why i have been such an ass lately, It is because I am scared out of my mind. I am scared as to what this society that we have created is bringing itself to. I have not lost hope in people, but have lost hope in those who follow others blindly.

I didn't know why I was so scared until now. Objectivism teaches that man should put himself first and everyone else second. what does that mean? It means this; It teaches you how to lead. In battle, a leader is the one at the front of the line, fighting because he wants to. In business, a leader is the entrepreneur who creates something new and brilliant. In politics, a leader is the one who points the finger last, and admits his own mistakes.

why am i scared? because society teaches to put yourself second. that the nail that sticks out, gets hammered down. that a leader is someone who can enrage your heart by blaming someone else for all your problems.

I said a couple weeks ago that I had had an anxiety attack. In that moment, I scratched the skin on the back of my left hand till it hurt, to take my mind off of the frightening possibility that i had stumbled upon. It came after our fight about art. I thought something so terrifying that I needed to mutilate my body just so I could rationally think again. that thought was this, gray. everything gray. the world turned to soot, to ashes, to nothing, because of this gray. and the reason for this gray is the unbridled growth of weeds. these weeds take everything from the world and give nothing back. and those weeds could have been destroyed, if someone had just had the nerve to say that the weed was bad, that it was dangerous to the trees that it attempted to imitate. when they said that art couldn't be good or bad and that no one could say so either way, this was the thought that entered my mind. would those weeds be doing it intentionally, of course not, they just want to be like the trees, but they can't. you can't be like something or somebody by stealing from them. whether you're stealing their strength, or their sunlight, you can't be like them.

I'm scared because there are sheep (those who follow) who don't even have a Shepard anymore. When I go to church, i am scared of everyone inside because they follow someone who is dead, they follow a creator of a religion blindly without questioning his motive.

I'm afraid, beyond all of my capabilities, of what this world is coming to.

I apologize for being an ass, I now know where it came from. I needed to solidify what was already present in my mind so that I can keep myself first, and leading.

and so that no one thinks I'm going to fight with them on this (I really just want an honest opinion about me) I am going to limit myself to one comment as a sort of closing argument. that's it, i can only make one comment, relatively short, and to the point and not directly rebutting anyone person.

so, here's your chance, If you've got something you want to get off your chest, do it now and just say, in as clear a way as possible.

The Poison...

that's killing America. back when our founding fathers created our country, they founded off of 2 values. these two values, the Aristotelian Democratic values and their christian values, were against each other. In the years since, we have come to understand that these two cannot stand together and eventually one will destroy the other. the sad thing is, the latter is currently winning.

our country has rules that were put in place based on our Aristotelian Tradition, such as, separation of church and state, and freedom of religion. and now, today, we find the Christian God in our pledge of Allegiance and even in our court systems (the Oath).

Why? around the 1950s, this negative stranglehold that the Christian religion has on our country tightened to the breaking point. now, 50 years later, we have the most religious president since the beginning, and I believe that the battle between the two opposing values will be finished with his reign.

Finally, a discussion on Laissez-faire capitalism and why we need it.

first off, government intervention is what got us into the trouble we're in in the first place (WHAT? but i thought it was sub-prime mortgages? (Yes, it was, and the government sparked that fire)) so the solution is, what? more government, err, wrong. we need less government.

*but James, won't that mean companies wil die?

yes, and those companies deserve to die (the vast majority, anyways) because they made a huge mistake without thinking of the outcome (Sub-Prime mortgages, Really guys? how unintelligent are you?)

*James, if the government moves out of the way, won't wal~mart rule the world?

No, Wal~Mart has no real power, all they have is a perceived power. if their distributors (or customers) get frustrated and decide to leave, Wal~Mart would die (not like kind of dead, DEAD dead)

*But James, what about the MONOPOLIES???

what kind are we taking about? if were talking about vertical expansion, who cares? other companies could do the same to expand and compete as well. And Horizontal, only works under certain conditions, those conditions being government involvement. (lobbyist of big corporations use the club of the government to cripple their competitors with odd-ball legislation) no one can control enough of a horizontal expansion without the government to do any real harm to the economy.

*But how far are we talking here? how much government gone?

All of it, everything privatized, no more government in the economy. Government would only serve it's purpose of protecting it's citizens. (military, police, court system)

*But wait, wouldn't privatization be EVIL??!!

By what standards? Private schools would be cheap and you could send your child to the school you want based on it's curriculum (not on where you live) and those without children wouldn't be bullied into paying for an education system they're not using. Privatized roads would be more efficient and cost-effective and only the people who use them would have to pay for them (NO MORE GOVERNMENT STEALING)

*what about the Great Depression, wasn't that caused by free market?

No, a totally free market has never existed in the entire world to this date, and the Great Depression was caused by money speculation of the government during the 1920s (ROARING 20s, the false economic boom after WWI). Free market is the only way for a civilized system to work (nobody should steal from anybody, EVER)

on Feb 16th, Russian Prime Minister Vladamir Putin, Former head of the KGB, warned America against socialism.

An eventful Night

to say the least.

First off, I had my second Behind the Wheel, and it was snowing (first time driving in snow, so that was fun)

Second, went to the Benefit, SO Much Kick-assery occurred that it just blows my mind. Corsair was definitely the best, by far (not a close second, like at battle). Clementine has lyrics for some songs, finally, and they are also pulling ahead of the pack.

thirdly, ICE SUCKS! I fell twice tonight, hurting my knees, chin and elbow, so that really sucks.

Edit: I lied, I need to talk about a comment I made a few months ago, about a certain people, Kelsey and Becca.

I would now like to clarify what I meant. I have no problem with Kelsey, I have little problems with Becca, and I have no problem with the two of them when they're around chris. However, the frustration arises when the 2 are together, but without the chris. in this state, they can be a little annoying, but it's ok now.

Her size, comparable to that of a 6th grader, seemed even less when compared to the man sitting in the large chair behind the desk.

The sharp lines of his faces looked smart and sharp and was all the more accented by cigar that rested coolly in the right side of his monstrous mouth. Today

Ok, so i just came out of my first anxiety attack since one year ago. I have very little idea behind it's reason, but i think i know it's cause. i came up with a very frightening idea during choir and i think it caused myself to snap, if you want to know about it, please ask.

secondarily, I think I am attempting to think so hard that reality becomes obscured, and i'm not quite sure why, i think it might have to do with the fact that my application for AM will be due next week, I think this moment before the next step in my life is scaring me.

I would like to expand on what i said in the last post (if you wish to comment on that post, please continue to do so there).

I would like to state my reason for putting limits on what i consider "good" art, it is so that when i find a great piece of art and wish to express my appreciation of this piece, i am expressing it more powerfully than i had with anything before, and when i express those opinions, i do not contradict myself because i described a piece that was inferior to the current piece with the same amount of praise. it is for that reason that i put constraints on what i consider to be great art. I believe that a person who puts no constraints would find this art and wish to pay the same level of homage, and would find themselves unable to do so because they would lack the ability to justify as to why it was better.

That is my reason for my standards, but i would also like to talk about art that doesn't necessarily fit my standards (and I believe it to not be a contradiction of my standards) is experience art, i find that the idea of art as an effect of a moment of your life is great art (because it effects you in the way that the artist wishes) such as, my idea for an art project: it would go like this, a device which would have a large cylinder with several tubes jutting out the bottom, each with a spring-lock system that is sensitive to the weight of the water upon it. it would be filled halfway with water, then would have paint dumped in the rest of the way till the locks click open(this would be done in a gallery and not in the studio, so that each piece represents a moment of time in the persons own life) the water paint mix would then flow out onto the canvas, and after it dried, would be available for purchase by anyone who saw it's creation.

I got into a discussion with someone over what one should consider good art. She told me that anything that the artist considers to be art is considered art and from there, anything that is appealing to the eye. I disagree, I believe that art should be defined by 2 characteristics. The first, art must show some amount of skill in it's creation. the second is that the piece must have a purpose in mind by the artist that can be readily seen and explained.

now, by this standard, realism (which exhibits the greatest skill) is the greatest style of art with any reason behind it(but my favorite is romanticism), would be the best, but, just as in music, i find myself attracted to other styles as well. if the skill that is lacking in a piece contains an even greater purpose in mind, I still find this okay.

anyways, another thing i have a problem with is when people say every piece of art they see is good with no standard as to why or how. to explain why this is, i use the car explanation.

Let's say there are 2 cars sitting side by side. the first is the best designed car in the world, it's exterior is as beautiful as it's interior, with a engine to back up this beauty with a power befitting to it. sitting next to it, we find a junker from the 80s with enough rust to choke an elephant with and a top speed of 45 mph. now, if any person says that the latter is a better car than the former, he now is devaluing the hours and hours of work that went into the design of the former car and the time put into it's creation, when the designer could have, with a hundredth of the effort, created a piece of shit like the car next to it.

Objective Truth

this is a project i did for english, and i like the thought process so much that i decided to show you.

Objective Truth:

The truth is Objective, like reality, and is independent of any and all conscious thought. The existentialist idea that “A person’s own convictions, not external rules, determine truth” is the falsest statement since religion and has no place in a serious field such as philosophy. The reasons for this are; reality is objective, the truth is derived from reality, and that truth, being based on reality, is also objective.

Reality is objective due to the fact that reality cannot be logically reasoned against. To say that a computer is really an apple tree out in Michigan, and the whole human race is mistaken in believing that it’s actually a computer is to claim that an A is actually a non-A. to this day, not a single person has been able to find an A that was actually a non-A, nor could they think one to reality, so we must assume that reality is objective and separate from the consciousness in all manners.

The truth is derived from reality. To persecute any person with a crime, we must be able to prove that they are guilty, and how do we do that? We gathered real evidence in order to expose the truth. Therefore it can be said that the truth is derived from reality (in this case, our evidence). Just as one cannot claim that the truth is that pigs can fly without some hard evidence, you cannot claim that the truth is separate from reality.

Furthermore, if we come to understand that reality is objective, and the truth is derived from reality, we can automatically assume that the truth is objective as well. One may bring up the point, however, that a man who has gone insane has his own truths, and therefore truth must be based on man to man and cannot be objective. This is not true; a man who has gone insane is described as such for he has lost his ability to perceive reality, therefore, without an ability to perceive reality he cannot come up with evidence, therefore, his “truth” is not truth at all.

So, we can safely and correctly come to the conclusion that truth can only be derived from reality, and that reality is independent of conscious thought and objective, so the truth must be objective and free from conscious thought. Therefore, the statement “A person’s own convictions, not external rules, determine truth” is completely and utterly false.

Hey there

James reporting in, today is the first of february, and alot of freaking crap is happening this month, so i thought i would commemorate it with a post.

first off, Superbowl, too much football, not enough commercials.

second, the office ruled.

third, i seem to be lacking the normal sexual frustrating i usually i have hanging over my head, it is quite a nice experience.

fourthly, I saw a music video recently with a bassist who has bass with a backwards head. as in, it points up rather than down, it was so weird.

fifthly, I love The Fountainhead movie, possibly one of my favorite black and white movies of all time, it keeps you interested, rather than the normal pre Wizard movies.

sixthly, FEBRUARY 20TH is the day that i can send in my application to Animation Mentor, I CAN'T EVEN FREAKING WAIT!!!

Today is the day

I have sprained my ankle... apparently running when it's slippery out is a bad idea, who knew?

Today was my last day on the wheel (officially) for pottery, so from today on, I'll be staying after to be on the wheel.

I'm going to go into pottery 2, and be the person to sell the most pots at the pottery sale. (woohoo!)

I may drop my webcomic idea and go on to simply writing it, i'm too tired to wait for artists to get their acts together (maybe i could animate it when i get good)

and since I did Lust yesterday, next up is Greed.

Let's start with a definition, shall we?
Greed: "Greed is the self-serving desire for the pursuit of money, wealth, power, food, or other possessions, especially when this denies the same goods to others. It is generally considered a vice, and is one of the seven deadly sins in Catholicism."

Hmm... Don't disagree with this definition, but i don't find it entirely acurate, either. I'll define greed as the state of one man not wishing to serve the needs of others because of his own selfish causes.

much better, i think that paints it in the correct light. as i've before, i don't believe greed should be a deadly sin, simply because i find nothing immoral about it. "But James, what about greedy kings, aren't they bad?" there is a difference in that situation, whereas his wealth was stolen from the people whom he serves and therefore, that is immoral. but in the case of a businessman, worker, or any other man who earns his own by his own, I don't think that applies. I was not born, nor did I accept the responsibility to bore another man upon myself, putting his ideals before my own. this does not mean I won't help others, i will simply put myself before him in the hierarchy of who needs what.

so, if you wish to avoid the bad things from greed, don't steal from others, and don't take positions where you are serving others, as in your job description, if you are greedy. but beyond that, greed is a ok (as long as you earn it or build upon it (Paris Hilton NOT included))

A return to our regularly scheduled programming

First off: James economic strategy #1: sell Highways off to private for organization for $1,000 per mile of road. this would generate 4 billion dollars, use to help with debt to China.

Second off: I want a straight-blade razor (pre-sharpened) and a leather strop and shaving cream. If someone steps up with this stuff before september, they get to choose what facial hair gets to go. I will not shave until that date otherwise.

Thirdly: Lets talk about Lust. (WooHoo, deadly sins!)
Lust is defined as "an inordinate craving for coitus often to the point of assuming a self-indulgent, and sometimes violent character. Lust, or an immoderate desire for the flesh of another (outside of matrimony), is considered a sin, or impure act, in all of the Abrahamic religions"

Alrighty then, first off, Lust isn't very controversial, so that's boring, but let's get on with it.

Lust is basically your hormones screaming at you to go get it on with another person. So that sucks, but one thing i do see more often than not, is people approaching this one with too much caution, to the point where they deny themselves sex no matter what. I don't agree with that. now, while i'm not saying we should all go around like rabbits on steroids in the springtime, we shouldn't be so prudent so as to deny ourselves the greatest act of celebration as human beings.

one thing to make sure your not being lustful (minus the obvious) is that you don't have your causes and effects switched around. I'll watch movies where a bunch of guys think that they'll be cooler (basically have a better self- esteem) if they have sex with every person in sight (LUST!!! (Here be example)) this is what i like to refer to as the "FAULTY CAUSE-AND-EFFECT".

these people see all these really happy people doing it all the time and they think that that's what causes happiness, ENNGHHH, WRONG! A person who has a strong self-esteem can find enjoyment in sex, but a person who uses sex to get a better self-esteem will find nothing but FAILURE!!!

A Vow

I swear by my life and my love of it that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine.

Now on to current events: Obama's great Economic plan that is supposed to supposedly save us all, is to print money, and not a little bit, but enough to put every president before him. great idea, let's steal from people and increase the rate of inflation ten fold.

next part: laissez-faire Capitalism, and it's ability to save us from this downwardly spiraling government. the whole reason why we're in this situation is because of the government interfering in the economy, so the socialist, err... i mean politicians, solution is to restrict and control the economy more. If there has ever been a better time to introduce laissez-faire, that time would be now. Sure, there'd be a few months where we see the incompetent companies who were living off of government subsidies die, but that is to be expected.

This is the best plan in my opinion, please, share your ideas on this.

and that is all... i'm thinking of opening an objectivist blog for this stuff, and leaving this to be day to day life, a journal, if you will. yay or nay?

I have no idea

ok, so, first off... second post of 2009, w00t.

next, i'm only 200 pages to go in Atlas, so that's pretty damn bopping.

thirdly, for the past several months i have liked someone (what? james, we thought you were over this stuff (yeah, well, shoosh)) and i have known that the liked someone else. which was completely fine. it was a confusing unofficial relationship they had going on and she wouldn't tell me the name of the guy she liked. well recently she's announced that it was official and no more iffey crap, so i decide to ask who it was. and I was prepared for any other answer than the one I received. I thought "I could have conceded defeated to anyone else, anybody else...". He's a lying, douche-bag, womanizing, FUCK-CUNT and I absolutely hate him. If it were anyone else in the world, i would've gladly been fine with it... but whatever.

I'll do deadly sin stuff next post, i'm too tired to think right now.

speaking of thinking, i think the change that i was going through is over. in fact, i think it's been done for a couple of weeks now. I now am the best that i can be (for the present) and wouldn't have it any other way.

I would like to impart a piece of knowledge that has entered me recently. the reason why Altruism is the root of all evil. A system where a person is punished because they can do something and another is rewarded because they can't. that is sick and wrong.

the one thing that Ayn does in her writing is create ridiculously blunt statements. such as, the antagonists of her books preach this idea, why give praise to someone worthy of praise, it is a waste of time, they are already worthy of it, so why should i give it? praise those who aren't worthy, those who can't do, those who are incompetent, for they are the ones who need it.

when i read one of the antagonists say something along those lines, i thought it was ridiculous, that nobody did that. then i realized that i used to do it. I used to say nice things people, to praise them, because they needed it. and so, I ahve made it a point of fact, that from now on, i will only praise those worthy of my praise, so that, I allow whatever they did to have it's full and true value.

when you praise those who are unworthy, you demean what those who are great stand for.

so, it's kind of frightening to think that my thoughts are already at the years ahead, so rarely is my head in the moment (except when i'm working, which is odd, to say the least).

this break has begun to drag on me, i miss school. I love learning and it does pain me to be away from the very center of learning itself. my computer begins to disinterest me (which is sad, because i do love her) but i believe that will be cured when i have places to go. today is friday, i have yet to sleep and the time is 2:45.

now for the philosophical quid bit of the week. This is a question for all those who believe in a higher power (good god, audience participation, james? you mustn't!) (hehe, i just said good god james)
here is your question, why do you believe? that's my question for you. i know that in all the years i believed in a higher being, i never asked myself that question, and i believe it must be asked. I asked this to one of my friends recently, and i got about a half-hour of alot of talking, but not a single straight answer. then, after all that dodging and countering, she broke down and told me straight out. Now, it didn't move me to religion again, but it restored my faith (hahaha, PUN) in mankind. her answer was exactly what i was looking for. the reason that she was moved to be apart of what she is apart of.

Next off, I would like to repeal my previous statement that religion is bull-shit. It is the 9-11 thing again. i realized that i don't feel the way i used to about religion because so many people around me have (well, not personally) used the name of a higher being as a rallying call for abuse of those around them. therefore, i no longer feel any attachment or sentimentality over the subject. it is my belief, however, that if there is a higher being, they would accept me, not by my belief in them during my life, but in the acts that i have done and the happiness i have obtained in my life. if any higher being doesn't accept those who are truly happy, that higher being is one i wouldn't have followed anyway.

now for our non-sequitar part of the evening, by god i use huge words. my vocabulary is gigantic and half the time, i doubt i'm even using the word correctly, i'm glad you guys can understand what i'm saying.

now for our plea for the week. (cue the saddening, heart-felt song) Today, there is a James out there waiting for your comments to give him something to read every once in a while. by posting just one comment on each of his blogs, you can entertain him for 5-25 minutes. that 5-25minutes let's him know that people care for him, so please, comment now.
